2D | Graphics Design (Forms of Existence)

To inform people with the value and potential development of Algorave music, and to increase recognition and maintain exposure consistency, I used the famous logo and typography from official Algorave website as my consistent elements for the whole series

I used vibrate blue and red to create digital blurriness.

Computer | Piano
One form for Algorave is to turning your computer into a musical instrument

Keyboard | Lego
Keyboard turns into a playground for artists. People can also see it as a musical toy.
Mouse | Microphone
FORM 3 It is an excellent tool for people to express real-time feelings and emotion.
Stage |  CHIP 
FORM 4 Music and dance are part of the overall performance. Based on interview, people who went to Algorave were mostly there for its performing art

3D | Materialization (Continuous Algo-wave)

Experimental design in music materialization and objectification. By studying the traits of sound waves of Algorave music, I materialized the sound track and created a 3D performing sculpture.

Materials: wire net, blue strip, brass wire.

4D | Sound Design (Shape Auralization)

A Experimental design in using sound describe shapes and graphs. Aligning traits of shapes to traits of sound, then set rules and system of translation.

A sound has two specific features:
pitch + amplitude.

Put shapes into x and y axis.
Change x-axis to amplitude and y-axis to pitch.

The distance between to two vertex presents time lapse.

Forwarding lines ->  increasing amplitude

Backwarding lines ->  increasing amplitude

Upwarding lines -> increasing pitch

Downwarding lines ->  decreasing pitch

5D | Interaction Design (Reactive Dance Pillar)

To break the barriers between dancers off stage and Algorave artist on stage, and disconnection between dancers and Algorave music; and create a more engaging experience for people in Algorave event.

Placing dance pillar in the middle of the dance floor.  Sensors on the top of the pillar keep sensing movement, sound, distance from people surrounding it, then sending the collected data to the big screen on stage. Images on screen changes with the collective data.

This design could be used as a new way for floor dancers to better interact with musicians or artists who use screen as their performative media.
